In November of 2010 Portland, Oregon Metro area Teacher Education program Deans and school district Superintendents met to discuss a potential collaboration. As an outcome of that meeting, a working group consisting of representatives from these institutions was formed to develop the PMEP Rationale, Mission and Goals, as well as an organizational structure for the partnership.
The working group created a three tiered structure consisting of a Leadership Council, a Steering Committee and fluid, ad-hoc working groups that could be formed as the partnership grows and pursues different projects.
The Leadership Council consists of Deans and Superintendents and serves to maintain the PMEP vision and mission, meeting a few times a year to review the work of the Steering Committee – which creates and facilitates working groups and day to day work of the partnership.
